Juan Gamboa is an NYC-based yoga teacher and retreat leader. He has been practicing yoga since 1998 and completed his 200 hour teacher training at Sonic Yoga in 2009. His other trainings are from: Kula yoga project (75 hours), restorative yoga (100 hours), MNDFL meditation training (200 hours). His classes are rejuvenating, vigorous and inspiring while keeping the energy supportive and inclusive. Each class is tailor-made, customized to fit the occasion, class or moment.
In 2020, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, he founded the P.A.R.C. (Practice And ReCover) Initiative to service the NYC yoga community. As the city shutdown all the yoga studios, the P.A.R.C. Initiative provided outdoor yoga classes to over 13 pop up locations across New York City from Harlem to Fidi. He even hosted yoga classes in his own backyard in the West Village! A local NYC news channel - New York One - recognized him as “New Yorker of the Week,” an honor he humbly accepts both with deep pride and with a self-deprecating snort-laugh.
For the past 8 years, He has taught trainings and led retreats around world - Greece, Manila, Cartagena, Monaco, Bangkok to name a few. Among his favorite retreat memories: Leading his community over the mountains of Chiang Mai, traipsing across the Dubai Desert on New Year’s Eve and island-hopping in Koh Samui. All his retreats are so special - they are known for deepening a student’s practice and developing present, meaningful connections among community members.
