Damselfly Yoga + Therapy Retreats is rooted in the foothills of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, where connection, exploration, and transformation naturally unfold. At the heart of this work is DeEtta Thornberg, yoga teacher and retreat leader, who has been walking her own path of self-discovery through yoga for over three decades. Each retreat is about stepping away from routine, learning something new, (or learning something old in a new way!) and coming back with a fresh perspective and a deeper appreciation for life.
DeEtta first stepped onto a yoga mat for fitness. What began as a casual practice grew into a lifelong journey, deepening in 2010 when she was called to explore yoga beyond the poses. Teaching, on and off the mat, became a natural extension of her own practice, as she continues to be—first and always—a student of life. Completing her Yoga Therapy training gave DeEtta practical tools to hold space with compassion, and to guide her students through the process of healing and self-understanding.
Since 2019, DeEtta has guided local and international retreats, thoughtfully crafted to nurture what is already working within each participant. Her approach is steady, respectful, and down-to-earth. She believes in creating space where people can slow down, be truly present, and connect the dots between the different parts of their lives. Her classes are intentionally slow and gentle—an antidote to the rush of everyday life.
DeEtta is the founder of Damselfly Yoga and Damselfly Destinations, where the focus is simple: real practices for real people, in settings that encourage clarity, connection, and growth.
